Do you meet with an existing local networking group of service coordinators?

Have you considered becoming an official chapter of The American Association of Service Coordinators (AASC)?

The AASC Board of Directors feels strongly that members need regional and local networking and training opportunities. Here are just a few of the benefits of becoming an official state chapter of AASC:

  • $500 of seed money to cover start up expenses
  • Hosted organizational meeting for all state members
  • Bylaws, policies, elections, incorporation, insurance, tax filing and meeting planning
  • $10 from the dues of every member in the Chapter state
  • Dedicated page on AASC’s website for chapter announcements, notices and news
  • Chapter e-bulletin each month with a message from the Chapter President, state news relevant to service coordinators and their residents, legislation and regulation issues from the state governmental agencies, and more
  • Email notices to members about upcoming meetings
  • Membership recruiting aids such as membership lists, marketing materials, give-aways

Being involved in a leadership position can help one grow as an individual and is an excellent method of professional development. Your company will reap the benefits of your involvement in so many ways:

  • You will develop a network of peers on which to call for support, suggestions and guidance.
  • You will become familiar with new service providers who sponsor chapter events.
  • You will get continuing education credits often at no cost and with minimal travel.
  • You will develop leadership skills that will help you interact with your residents, your property manager, your owner, your board of trustees.

And volunteering is good for you, too! Are you thinking, “What’s in it for me?” The answer is, plenty! Here are some of the things you will get in return for your time:

  • Making new friends
  • Making connections that can lead to a job or career
  • Building confidence and self-esteem
  • Feeling needed and important
  • Feeling satisfaction at getting things done and helping others
  • Meeting people who could be role models
  • Using your mind and creativity
  • Fighting boredom
  • Spending time doing what you really care about
  • Feeling like you’re part of a community
  • Having fun!

It has been said that people who become volunteers usually lead richer, happier, and more satisfying lives than those who don’t.
