A recent article from the Medicare Rights Center reveals that Medicare covers mental health services differently depending on whether the beneficiary is receiving that service as an inpatient or an outpatient. Starting in 2012, some preventive mental health services will be added to Medicare coverage. These services will be covered 100 percent by Medicare, with no patient cost sharing.

Very-low income women who have the opportunity to move from high-poverty neighborhoods into lower poverty areas are significantly less likely to be extremely obese or to have diabetes. Those are among the key findings of a study by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). An article published this week in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) highlights the positive health findings, which HUD previewed Oct. 19.
